It has been almost a month since I have blogged. Ugh. How could that be? Honestly. I have just been in a slump. Not to mention we have had A LOT on our plate, and as a typical D-Mama I am exhausted most of the time! Especially now with two d-kiddo's. I am pretty sure I get less sleep then I did before. Maybe in another 15 years or so I will be able to sleep again. Maybe.
In all seriousness, lack of sleep is nothing compared to what a dear friend of mine is facing. This past week I received some pretty devastating news from a D-Mama whom is very dear to me. I am sure most of you that are on Facebook have seen me post about it but I wanted to share it on my blog too. I want to get her story out there so you can help, so you can pray.
Some of you "know" Meri and are familiar with her blog Our Diabetic Life. Last Sunday Meri took her husband Ryan to the emergency room because of some numbness/heaviness he was having on his right side. That night they found out the horrible truth the Ryan's cancer had returned. His head CT scan discovered 6 tumors on his brain. Further testing revealed tumors in his lungs and abdomen as well.
I can't even tell you how much my heart hurts for this family right now. I can't even fathom what they are going through. My first reaction was disbelief. How could this being happening to them? Meri has 4 boys, 3 of which have Type 1 Diabetes. Those boys need their dad. Meri needs her husband, her helpmate. Why, why is this happening to this family? I still haven't wrapped my mind around it.
I know they face a long road of unknowns in the months ahead. It won't be a easy one. I am glad they are surrounded by family and friends that are local and can be there to support them. But they are also support by then entire DOC and beyond. Those friends and family will be able to fill their hearts with love and hope in the long days ahead.
My hope is that Meri and Ryan will receive a miracle. Meri has asked from the start for prayers and that is what we are going to give her and her family. We are going to flood the gates of heaven with prayers for Meri, Ryan and her family.
Faith is very important to Meri and her family and it is with faith that Meri and Ryan face this head on.
On Sunday, March 4th, the family will be setting aside a day of prayer and fasting. I would ask that you please join the family in praying for a miracle. I am inviting you, no matter what denomination you are to join them. With this in mind, we invite you to post prayers and reflections of hope on your personal blogs and websites. There will be a thread started on their Facebook page (the icon on the sidebar will take you to it) where your link can be shared. If you don't have a blog/website and would like to share your prayer with the family, please feel free to add your thoughts to this thread as well. By keeping them in one place the family will easily be able to access your words of encouragement in the days, weeks and months to come.
Please spread the word to anyone, and invite others to join this massive prayer effort.
Please pray, my dear friend needs a miracle.
